The Sequential Figure and Ground project explored interrelationships between individual letters and their sequential whole while taking inspiration from the principles of Gestalt. During the ideation process, incorporating the 6 principles of Gestalt and learning how figure-ground can be incorporated into the relationship of 2 figures. For the Sequential Figure-Ground project, a collage of 10 figure-ground frames are aligned horizontally; overall each frame shows a figure-ground relationship as well as the entire design. During Critique Fall 2023, feedback that was given was to explore more with serifs and the sizing of each letter. For the final design, creating motion throughout the entire design with serifs, and a steady flow of white and black contrasts made by the sizing of each letter helped the design become more cohesive and show the relationship between figure and ground.
