Crocs
This current spring semester I’m enrolled in Packaging Design taught by Grace Washko. Our latest project consisted of redesigning a Crocs line; including the Crocs box, Hang-tag, blister pack, and brand identity. This was a group project made with two other collaborators in the Packaging Design class: Molly Rahm and Patrick Kelly. For our demographic, we choose to focus on working professionals. We were inspired by architectural line drawings and retro 80s VCR packaging, creating an elevated professional looking shoe but tying back to the Crocs brand by using bold bulk colors utilizing their bright color palette.
Brand Identity
Jenna White
Our Brand identity is a mix between professional and fun. Using bold colors to tie back to the Crocs brand but reaching new audience through our professional work shoe. Our theme was inspired by 80s Retro and companies like Apple and Pink Floyd: romanticizing work life. We created this theme using an underlying grid structure and line illustration drawings of a selection of Crocs shoes. Since Crocs is a trustworthy brand that is seen as fun and easygoing we wanted to attract a new audience and demographic.
Hang Tag
Jenna White
When the Crocs shoe is getting displayed on shelves, the customer only gets to see the hang-tag before purchasing the item. When designing, our team put priority on creating a Hang-tag that immediately got our brand identity across to the customer. We collectively as a group decided the scale the underlying grid to each project, so the grid is the smallest in the hang-tag.
Box
Molly Rahm
The Box highlights the main design on the outside of the box and adds a fun pop of Crocs green on the inside. Collectively as a group we decided to scale the underlying grid structure up, to out emphasis on the shoe illustration instead of the grid like in the hang-tag. On the inside of the box top tab Molly added 4 Crocs illustration to tie the inside and outside of the box together as a cohesive whole.
Blister Pack
Patrick Kelly
The Blister pack shows our main theme as well. The scale of underlying grid is our middle size between the hang-tag and the box. Patrick decided to showcase the underlying grid and the Croc illustration in equal priority. This blister pack should be paired with Jibbits that match the professional, elevated look or have the same color palette.
Photography & Social Media
Jenna White
For Crocs social media we decided to showcase our deign with different aesthetics. Since our main design focuses on a dark background with bold bulk colors; we decided to show our illustration and underlying grid in photography that focuses on lighter or neutral colors. This color palette will allow the line illustrations to pop and prove that our design is multifaceted.
